2025 Legislative Priorities for the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce
Insurance – Property & Windstorm
The Chamber urges the Florida Executive and Legislative branches of Florida’s government to develop a fair, affordable and sustainable insurance program.
Infrastructure
The Chamber supports local and State measures to reduce utility costs.
The Chamber supports predictable local and state long-term funding for transportation infrastructure, including the widening of CR 510 in Fellsmere.
The Chamber supports collaboration among state & local officials and the Business Community to remove obstacles and identify opportunities for increased Workforce Housing availability in IRC.
Environment
The Chamber encourages improved water quality and ecosystem health, especially concerning the Indian River Lagoon and its connected waterways.
The Chamber supports increased focus on stormwater impact on Lake Okeechobee and downstream communities.
Economic Development
The Chamber supports the use of State and County incentives that attract new business and retains existing businesses in our County. Incentive programs must be accountable and quantifiable results.
The Chamber supports the sustained allocation of state funding to Visit Florida.
Education
The Chamber supports funding of education and training programs that attract and retain existing businesses, provide learning opportunities for County citizens, and support funding for additional post-secondary education that prepares a high skill/ high wage workforce to meet the economic development and employment demands of a prosperous future.
