Interior Design Assistant
Posted: 03/23/2022Your basic responsibilities will include:
- Assisting Lead Designers with various project management tasks
- Provides managerial and secretarial support to the Design team and business
- Creating budget reports, punch lists, and other related documents and tracking methods
- Visiting job sites to analyze space availability, design needs and the purpose of the space
- Reports to Design team on progress, financial status, and other major issues of the project
- Attending client meetings to understand the design needs and client preferences regarding interior styles and colors
- Creating initial design sketches, color themes and ideas based on client requirements and space availability
- Arranging client visits and keeping everyone involved in the project appraised of its progress
- Managing the clients expectations with firm communication, organization, and regular appointment schedules
- Provides AutoCAD drawings and updates as needed
- Works with Lead Designers in order to update necessary paperwork, such as Finish Selection Sheets, AutoCAD drawings, and other
- Researches and writes accurate specifications for furniture, fixtures, etc.
- Assists the Design team with creating Specifications
- Assists the Finance team with entering Specifications into Design Manager, and creating Proposals for clients
- Manages purchase orders, tracking and deliveries
- Ability to work on multiple design projects simultaneously, altering priorities when required
- Manages and monitors the execution of subcontractors’ work
- Communicates emergencies, mistakes, accidents, etc. in a professional and proactive manner
- Active in continued education in industry products, technologies, and networking
- Contributes to office activities, initiatives and learning programs
- Will be positive, proactive and have passion and drive for their position
- Possess professional appearance and communication skills at all times
- Assists with the day to day office operations of a high-end interior design office
- Communicates, coordinates with design vendors, suppliers and project partners
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or similar is preferable
- Experience with furniture procurement software and processes
- Proficient in AutoCad, Microsoft Suite, and Design Manager
- Working knowledge of Interior Design project management
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and numerous high-end specifications and finishes that are on time and in budget
- Keen ability to read and understand architectural and ID drawings
- Experience with Design Manager software a plus
- Experienced reading construction and architectural drawings, schedules, notes, keys, millwork details
- Broad knowledge of vendors and resources to expedite appropriate materials for presentations and specifications
- Develops new solutions and strategies to better the work structure, design process, and client budgets
- Has excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Is persuasive, influential, and innovative
- Possess professional appearance and communication skills at all times
- Mature, intelligent, inquisitive
- Highly organized and able to multitask
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail
- Works efficiently under pressure, operate effectively in a fast pace but fun environment
- Works on own initiative and possess a can-do attitude
- Collaborates as a team member
- Flexibility; ability to handle change and last-minute alterations of design or scope due to issues such as: client requests, budget, schedule challenges, economics, and natural disasters beyond our control
- Available for travel as needed, per project, for site visits, project management, installation, photo shoots, etc
