SEA OF HOPE 2019 TAKES A DAY TRIP TO OLD HAVANA
New theme plays on the vibrant sights, sounds and flavors of Old Havana to raise funds for the Treasure Coasts’ fastest growing and largest children’s organization
Palm City, FL – September, 2018 – Place of Hope’s signature Sea of Hope Luncheon will be a tropical, light-hearted affair transporting guests with its “A Day in Old Havana” theme for 2019.
The 4th annual luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m., February 15, 2019 at Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club, Palm City. The annual event raises critical funds and awareness helping Place of Hope to recruit, train and license foster families in the Treasure Coast. These foster families care for children who have suffered egregious abuse, neglect, trafficking or abandonment.
Last year, the Brinson family was awarded the inaugural Foster Family of The Year award noting their commitment to providing a stable and loving environment for children who are hurting – which is the mission of Place of Hope. This year, a new family will be recognized along with Place of Hope’s third annual Hero of Hope award, given to Mrs. Rani Newman Mathura of Newman Mathura Law, PLLC last year.
At any given time, there are upwards of 1,000 children in Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee who are without a home due to abuse, neglect, abandonment and human trafficking. These children are in our neighborhoods and schools. Place of Hope is making a dramatic difference in the community through not only restoration and healing, but also education and prevention.
Supporters and newcomers can become involved through making meals for foster families, attending a foster care orientation class, making a one time, recurring or planned gift – or by joining a committee. Caroline Hill and Lynette Groves have sat on the event planning committee for several years. This year, for Place of Hope’s largest fundraising social event in the Treasure Coast, they are returning as Co-chairs
"As a former foster parent in Martin County, I recognize the unique struggles and challenges of caring for children in need. Place of Hope has expertly organized a tremendous support system that turns fostering into a team sport instead of an individual event. This is your opportunity to join a team that is bringing hope and healing to our area." – Lynette Groves
Sea of Hope “A Day in Old Havana” will feature a live and silent auction, a tropical inspired lunch and themed entertainment, and a special Bid from the Heart. Proceeds will benefit the programs and operations of Place of Hope. Place of Hope is a unique, faith-based, state-licensed children’s organization providing family-style foster care (emergency and long-term); family outreach and intervention; maternity care; safety for victims of domestic minor sex trafficking; transitional housing and support services for youth aging out of foster care; housing and support services for homeless families; foster care recruitment and support; hope and healing opportunities for children and families who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect through our region.
