The Chamber's Economic Leadership Alliance is an opportunity for our private sector partners to become more involved in our economic development activities. Investor dollars are used soley for economic diversification purposes - business recruitment, expansion and retention. Each year, the first Friday in October is recognized as National Manufacturing Day. Our Chamber joins hundreds of other economic development organizations around the country in saluting our local manufacturers for all they add to our economic base.

The Florida Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), in cooperation with the national MEP, has developed a flyer that offers interesting facts and clears up a few misperceptions people may have about this industry, such as:

For every $1 of goods produces in the U.S., manufacturing generates an additional $1.43 for the economy
Manufacturers are responsible for nearly 2/3 of all private sector R&D
Each manufacturing job creates at least 2.91 more jobs in other sectors
In Indian River County, manufacturing jobs pay $48,412 annually, compared to our county's average wage of $33,947.
