Agriculture and tourism have been the county’s largest industries.  These are complimented by an increasing number of firms in the health care and information technology industries along with a steady stream of light manufacturing and service sector jobs.Relatively low labor costs and inexpensive building sites, plus the absence of state income tax, continue to attract industry. A motivated workforce of semi-skilled and trained technical workers points to a community that is productive and business-friendly.

Ringed by citrus groves, cattle ranches and the Atlantic Ocean, Indian River County has a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere. Centrally located 70 miles south of the Kennedy Space Center and 135 miles north of Miami, our 543 square miles contain beautiful beaches, groves of renowned Indian River oranges and grapefruit, immaculate oceanfront estates and riverfront communities. This unique setting, combined with our tourist industry and business community, continues to attract national and international attention.
